Rainbow Bridge

THE RAINBOW BRIDGE

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.  The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together . . .

Pepper
My name is Pepper. After being allowed to be a foster dog with Ben and Char in early 2011, I found a Forever Home with them. I was 9 years old and a "senior" pup! They allowed me to join their "pack" and I lived with them just over four year until this past weekend when I passed away and crossed the Bridge on Sunday. We had lots of fun, and the three of us went for car rides two or three times nearly every day, and spent lots of good times together. We went on walks around the neighborhood and I was allowed to ride with Ben in a golf cart several times at Prairie Green Golf Course! That was fun! I will be waiting for them in heaven, so I can thank them for rescuing me and giving me a Second home. I may get to wait outside the gates of Heaven so I can greet them when they arrive, just like they greeted me into their home! I know they will still talk to me and remember the things we did together, and hopefully will do it with a big smile on their faces! I know they will cry for me because I am gone from them, but I will be waiting for them in heaven! I will miss them too. It will not be heaven for me without them! Thanks, Diane, for getting the three of us together!

Sadie
Sadie came to DDR as an owner surrender. She and Chloe were sisters that loved to be together. Sadie was always the quiet one that loved to sit on the couch next to you as her sister played ball. Sadie was such a snuggler, she never asked for much, just a pet or a hug and a place next to you wherever you sat. Sadie was such a beautiful girl! She will be missed terribly by her foster mom who adopted Sadie shortly before she passed away. Thanks Tonya for giving a senior girl a home of her own in her golden years! Sadie knew she had your heart the first time you threw a birthday party for her.

Sassy Sue
Sassy Sue was a very sad senior girl as her owner had passed away, she ended up outside alone and in need of medical attention. A very kind lady took her in, got her the much needed medical attention and then helped her find her way to DDR. Sassy Sue was given a wonderful loving foster home and more medical attention while she was in DDR. Unfortunately was more ill than anyone knew, she always searched for her owner and we know she is now happy as she joined her owner at the Rainbow Bridge.

Rosie
Rosie was such a sweet girl. She never asked for much, she just wanted to be next to you on the couch and she knew she was loved. Rosie died very unexpectedly, we took her into our vet's office for a sore neck, we had been treating her for an ear infection. The vet had called and said we needed to change her treatment and I could pick her up after work. osie passed away 10 minutes after I arrived. Rosie was a stray in Plainsville, Nebraska, and her time was up at the shelter. A kind lady saved Rosie but couldn't keep her so she called us. Rosie was obviously a breeder girl. Her insides were full of infection when we took her to get spay, and she had to have several teeth pulled. She also had some scars that made us believe she was attacked by an animal or perhaps the breeder tried to get rid of her. Rosie was one of the sweetest dachshunds I have ever met, she is greatly missed.
